It’s a perfect day in Thailand’s island paradise. As you cruise along with limestone cliffs towering overhead, you’re amazed by Mother Nature’s forces. Ahead, you catch a glimpse of silver-white sand beach, with lush green vegetation beyond. You wonder, could this beach be better than the last? The captain cuts the engine, and you climb ashore. It’s time for lunch
The waters of Phuket, from the soaring limestone
karsts of Phangna Bay and Krabi, to the deserted
shores of Koh Rok, are among the best cruising
grounds found anywhere. With the elimination of
a 220% import duty being an only recent event,
the population of private yachts is still relatively
small. It is still possible to find beautiful spots
offering a high degree of privacy.
With trips to popular destinations such as Krabi
and Phi Phi Island being over 100km return, the
ideal day trip to these exotic destinations is on
board a fast Sports Cruiser powerboat. Traveling
at over 60km per hour, a fast powerboat gets you
to your destination quickly, so you can have more
time to enjoy the sun, sand, and snorkeling.
A Sports Cruiser private charter is an affordable
way to see the islands, especially for groups of
up to 10 guests as the 73ft teak and mahogany
Allalunga, Leylai.
Awaking to the sounds of the nearby jungle,
anchored peacefully at the base of 300m
limestone cliff, with the smell of fresh coffee
in the air, is one of life’s truly great experiences.
Overnight trips on a large, crewed luxury yacht
offer the ultimate escape from the stresses of
reality life, and can be surprisingly affordable.

A short overnight trip to Phang Nga Bay is the
perfect introduction to luxury yacht cruising.
Other excellent trips include a 2 night visit to
Phang Nga Bay and Krabi, or Phi Phi and Krabi.
Cruising further afield, 3 night trips to Koh Rok or
the Similans Marine National Park provides the
ultimate escape to nature.
Lying 40km from Phuket, Koh Phi Phi is perhaps
Phuket’s most famous destination. Phi Phi is
famous for its sights both above and below the
water. Cruise at the base of limestone cliffs, which
stretch for up to 4km long, and towering 300m
overhead. Spend an afternoon basking in the
lagoon at Phi Phi Ley - nature’s perfect
swimming pool.
Only 30km from Phuket lay the sheltered,
mangrove fringed waters of Phang Nga Bay,
which is most famous for its sights above the
waterline, most notably showcased in the James
Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun.
Resting on the fly-bridge and enjoying a
sundowner as day gives way to night, must
surely be the highlight of any holiday.
About 45km across the bay lies Krabi, with
stunning cliffs, and some of the best and most
scenic beaches found anywhere. Offshore lies
Koh Dam, otherwise known as Chicken Island.
At low tide, a beautiful white sand beach reveals
itself for sunning. As the water rises and covers
the sand bar, it turns a perfect azure.
More ambitiously, Koh Rok lies 100km southeast
of Phuket, and halfway to Langkawi. A remote
location puts this marine national park beyond the
reach of all but the most ambitious day trippers.
Two islands, with over 1km of perfect white sand
beach, are separated by a narrow channel. Looking
across the channel, the water turns from clear, to
turquoise, to deep blue. At night, the dark skies
are filled with stars, safe from the obscuring lights
of the city.
“There is simply nothing comparable to a holiday
on board a luxury yacht, it provides something
that we all want – and that is total freedom.” says
